Security vulnerabilities in Tizen
UnverifiedFirmware support status hasn't been confirmed for this model from a citable source yet.
What that actually means for your TV →
Samsung's UK QN90D pages give a "Security Update Period (At least 5 years from launch of product)" to 31 December 2029. We couldn't find a current Samsung US product page for the QN90D that states an OS upgrade or security update period, and this entry covers the US models too, so it isn't marked as confirmed. Checked 6 Nov 2026.
Automatic content recognition (ACR), including over HDMI
Has ACRThis model has Samsung's ACR feature (branded "Viewing Information Services"), which analyses on-screen content — including over HDMI — to identify what's playing.
What ACR is and how to turn it off →
Samsung's US support article covers its smart TVs in general, not this model by name. Asked "What models of TVs does this apply to?", it answers "All Smart TVs manufactured by Samsung." It says ACR is optional and only runs if you opted in to the Viewing Information Services notice when setting up the TV, or turned it on later in Settings. So the TV has the feature, and Samsung says it's off unless you agree to it. Checked 23 Oct 2026.
