Built-in far-field microphone

No TV mic

This model has no built-in far-field microphone — voice control goes through the remote.

What a far-field mic does →

Vizio's 2024 4K user manual on vizio.com covers every V4K model listed here. On page 14 it says: "VIZIO will only capture voice commands when you press the microphone button on your remote or mobile app and speak into the microphone on the remote control or mobile phone." The specifications on pages 22 to 24 list "BT / IR Voice Remote" as the remote for every size. So the microphone is in the remote and only works while you press the button; the manual doesn't describe one in the TV.

Security vulnerabilities in SmartCast

Unverified

Firmware support status hasn't been confirmed for this model from a citable source yet.

What that actually means for your TV →

No official Vizio policy stating a minimum number of years of firmware/security updates could be found, unlike Samsung's public seven-year Tizen commitment or LG's stated webOS support windows. Vizio's own support site indicates some older models eventually stop appearing in the firmware-update list, but no source states how long a 2024 model is guaranteed updates for. Stays unverified rather than assumed either way.

Automatic content recognition (ACR), including over HDMI

Has ACR

This model has Vizio's ACR feature (branded "Viewing Data"), which analyses on-screen content — including over HDMI — to identify what's playing.

What ACR is and how to turn it off →

Vizio's own current privacy policy confirms its ACR system, branded "Viewing Data," collects "audio and video programming content playing on the display unit" plus device/network identifiers. Critically, the same policy states each device receives a notification and "an opportunity to choose whether to turn on Viewing Data" before any collection, and a factory reset returns it to "OFF" — this is opt-in, not the opt-out-by-default design LG and Samsung ship. This model's own manual confirms the same opt-in flow directly: first-time setup step 8 of 9 is "Accept the VIZIO Viewing Data policy", and the manual's FAQ says to go to All Settings > Admin & Privacy, "then select Viewing Data to turn the feature on or off". `value: true` here means the feature exists and can run if enabled, matching how this site records ACR for other brands — not that it ships on by default.

Looks for other devices on your home network

Unverified

Whether this model looks for other devices on your home network hasn't been confirmed from a citable source yet.

How to put a TV on its own network →

Vizio's own Viewing Data policy says it collects "the identity of devices connected to the VIZIO OS product (e.g., a streaming stick plugged into an HDMI port)" and the identifiers (MAC addresses) of nearby Wi-Fi access points. That covers devices plugged into the TV and nearby Wi-Fi networks, not other devices on your home network. We haven't found a Vizio source that says whether this TV looks for other devices on your home network. LG's answer isn't applied to other brands.

Settings for SmartCast

ACR settings: Viewing Data.

SmartCast shows ads in its own menus. They can't be turned off, but there are settings that change how they're personalised. Source ↗

VIZIO OS settings guide: ACR and ads on every brand's VIZIO OS models → It lists them once for every model with this software. Software updates can reset these settings, so check again after an update.
