BYD: previous owners, selling, and privacy settings

Last checked: 14 Oct 2026; buyer route re-checked 6 Nov 2026

BYD's connected services: BYD app. BYD's UK handbooks say a new owner can see your saved settings and recommend a factory reset before you sell. BYD's UK site doesn't explain removing a car from the BYD app.

Bought it used? BYD's UK documents don't describe how a buyer removes a previous owner. Ask the seller to unlink the car using the steps below, or contact BYD.

BYD's UK handbook says settings made in the infotainment system, including the address list and navigation, can be accessed by a new owner, and recommends a factory reset before the car is transferred or scrapped. The reset takes two to five minutes; don't touch the screen or switch off while it runs.

Good to know

Not found in BYD's public UK documents: How a buyer removes a previous owner from the BYD app, how a seller removes the car from the app, and the menu path for offline mode. BYD's UK ownership, privacy, care and contact pages (re-checked on 6 Nov 2026) don't cover the app. Only the Sealion 7 and Dolphin handbooks were checked. Menu paths can differ by model and software version; each one here is for the version its source names.
