Kia: previous owners, selling, and privacy settings

Last checked: 14 Oct 2026

Kia's connected services: Kia App, Kia Connect (formerly UVO). Kia says a previous owner who didn't disconnect can keep tracking the car; reset Kia Connect. Sellers need to deactivate it, not just factory-reset.

Home → Kia Connect → Kia Connect settings

Kia's UK FAQ acknowledges that a previous owner who doesn't disconnect can keep tracking the car, and says to reset Kia Connect. Only one account can hold a car's VIN; once you're the main user, you can use any remaining free term.

Kia's UK FAQ also says to use the Contact Us section on its Kia Connect site (choose Kia Account) for account questions.

Kia's terms say the seller must deactivate and delete. They warn that a head-unit factory reset alone does not deactivate Kia Connect.

Kia's UK FAQ says removing the car's VIN in the app or resetting the Kia Connect system in the car deletes your personal data; the terms warn that a head-unit factory reset alone doesn't deactivate Kia Connect, so use Deactivate Kia Connect. The general system reset is SETUP → General → Default.

Good to know

Not found in Kia's public UK documents: Which models have the ccNC head unit; Kia's manual doesn't list them. Menu paths can differ by model and software version; each one here is for the version its source names.
